One of the most basic things when getting started with Magento is learning the log in, sign out and reset password in Magento admin. This article will guide you the basic step to make things right.
Please note that the guide is used for a full admin role because as the store admin, you can set different permission for specific users. This will limit the access to certain parts in admin panel. However, the following only apply for user with full admin privilege.
Magento Admin Sign In
Step 1: Enter the URL of your store’s admin. This URL is decided during the installation of Magento. The default of admin URL will be in this form:
http://www.yourwebsitedomain.com/admin (this is just an example for you).
Step 2: Enter the user name and password in the corresponding fields.
Step 3: Click on the Sign in button.
Reset Password
In case you forget your password during the sign-in process, you should take note that by default you only have six times for failed signing in before your account is locked. Thus, please be careful to double check when entering user name and especially password. However, you can also go to advanced admin configuration to change the setting of how many times admin user can try to log in.
To reset password, follow these steps:
Step 1: Click the link Forgot Your Password.
Step 2: Enter the email you use when creating the admin account.
Step 3: Click the Retrieve Password button. Then an email to reset password will be sent to your email.
Magento Admin Sign Out
Please look at the upper right corner of the admin page, click the account icon, then select Sign Out to log out of your admin account. You are recommended to sign out any time you finish or when leave your computer to keep the confidentiality of your admin account and store.
